All USC housing facilities are furnished, but residents will need to bring basic personal items with them.

Items to bring

  • Towels
  • Blankets
  • Bedspread or comforter
  • Sheets
  • Pillows and pillowcases
  • Cell phone
  • Power strip/surge protector
  • Desk lamp
  • Toiletries
  • Hangers
  • Decorations (non-damaging decorations for walls and floors)
  • Fan
  • TV  (Housing cable service is digital, so your TV must be digital-ready.)

If your housing assignment includes a kitchen, you will also need to bring:

  • Dishes
  • Glasses
  • Cooking and eating utensils
  • Pots and pans
  • Microwave
  • Small kitchen appliances (You may wish to coordinate your kitchen needs with your roommate[s].)

What not to bring

Pets – Students are not permitted to have dogs, cats or other pets in USC housing. The only exception is fish in a 10-gallon (or smaller) tank.Residents found with a pet will be charged a substantial clean-up and re-carpeting fee and documented for violating university policy.

Air Conditioners and Kitchen Appliances – If you need an air-conditioned room, please select facilities with air conditioning when applying, as you are not permitted to install a unit yourself. Cooking appliances such as microwave ovens, hotplates, toaster ovens, water heaters, coffee makers, barbecues and rice cookers are allowed only in housing units with kitchens and are prohibited in student rooms and other spaces.

DISH/Satellite TV Antennas – Installation of these devices is a “physical alteration” of the building and/or the room or apartment, which is not allowed for safety and security reasons. Remember: All housing facilities come with cable TV service.
